Talk About Tuesday

In Which Today Sure was a Tuesday...

I'm a very boring person. I like being boring - it provides a minimus of stress (which I *still* don't cope with well, but let's not talk about that lol). It also means that I have a certain level of predictability to my own life.

So when I found myself holding a strange iPhone in the middle of the local Walmart while my mother complained loudly about the lack of cat food in stock I was a tad flustered.

Thankfully, it just took tapping a screen once to get someone's attention and the phone was dropped off, I picked up my yarn (I needed red and green for a project and picked up some purple because I had run out), grabbed a Dr Pepper, and tested out a gift card I hadn't used yet. It worked, thankfully, because I hate using gift cards for the first time and having them fail. There are always so many questions that I can't answer. I don't know when my relative bought this for me. I don't know where the receipt is - probably in their purse halfway across the state. Let's be real, people rarely buy cards for themselves.

So the shopping trip, aside from finding someone's iPhone on the floor near the baby aisle, was pretty short. Except there were a lot of little things that weirded me out.
  • There was almost 0 cat food
  • Ditto on the litter
  • It's really hard to look for your shopping party when you cannot see out of your foggy, foggy glasses
  • My mask works really well at filtering out scents (which bodes well for its ability to reduce germs) but for some reason my eyeballs still feel the parfum and fragrance in the air and they will tell me all about it, leading to dry, itchy eyes all day long.
  • There was a dude in the parking lot who tried to walk up to the car as we tried to leave to get us to sign a petition of some sort. Just... no. If people are already in their car and about to pull up, you do not approach!!!
So that was weird. And yes, I used hand sanitizer when we got in the car, washed my hands several times when we got inside, and I'm leaving the yarn alone for a couple of days while I try to math out the patterns.

Because somewhere, something has gone... s t r a n g e.

One section (which I'm reproducing on either side of this project) is 17 stitches across.

The other section is between 12 and 16 stitches across, depending on what versions I use.

This does not math without some weird, unattractive placements.

But that's for next Fiber Monday's discussions lol.

For today, I have this to tell you:

Stardew Valley is hella fun, books are really cool, and kitty litter is HEAVY.

That's it. That's what I have to say.

Schedule:
  • Thursday will be more art (possibly with new art supplies!)
  • Saturday might be me blathering about video games
  • If I remember to post it, I should have a Tea Blog for Sunday lol.
  • Next Monday I'll talk more about my crochet math problems. Hint: it involves working from knitting patterns and also with size issues.
  • Next Tuesday will be more blathering like this.
Today's weather was a damp 28℉(-2℃) with sticky snow flurries. Right now, it's actually 32℉ (0℃), and I don't know that it's still snowing, but with the stiff breeze we've got, it feels like 18℉(-8℃). Wind is currently 15-22mph (24-35kph). It's very, very dark out.

My cat has moved exactly twice today. Both times were to new blanket tents.

I have moved... about 15 times today, and I'll move another dozen or so before I sleep because I get restless and weird as the night goes on.

Well, I think that about covers things for today.

Thanks for hanging out and listening to me blather!

Talk About Tuesday 243

In which I blather and plan

It's a partly cloudy day with a gentle breeze. The cat is asleep on my lap, so I'm bent at a weird angle trying to type, but she's really comfy, so I'd feel bad about waking her.

Last night, I saw a good spooky movie, which I'll probably talk about in the next few weeks :)

Today's weather is, as I've said, partly cloudy. It's about 51℉ (~10.5℃) and fairly humid, and I understand we'll have rain later, though that seems to be happening more tomorrow morning than tonight. I'm okay with that. We're looking at an average of 0.13 inches per hour, up to a full quarter of an inch per hour at one point. Wow. That sounds... miserable, to be honest...

Then again, it also looks like it's only going to be a problem until around 2pm, so... I dunno what I'm complaining about.

But what of the blog?

  • Tomorrow I will talk more about wrestling!
  • Thursday will be more art!
  • Friday... I'm not sure which of the cool movies I'll be talking about. Will it be the one I just watched? The cool documentary I watched? What will I talk about?
  • Saturday will be about some kind of Halloweeny game!
  • Sunday will be some cooking experiments!
  • Monday might just be the last Pumpkin Spice day!!!
  • Next Tuesday I'll blab some more about some stuff :P
My plans for the day include returning some bottles and reading. How about you guys?

Also I should probably get this cat off of my lap soon. She was trying to kick me out of the chair earlier. I wonder if she still wants this seat...

I do have a few random thoughts I would like to share, too:
  • Allergies suck and I wish they'd go away
  • I miss sleep
  • I still really want to buy a bunch of fabric from the local shop and make a couple of rectangle skirts, but I no longer remember how to thread a sewing machine and ours breaks thread besides...
  • My toes are freezing even though I know we just turned the furnace back on. What is up with this?
  • I should draw more today.
  • I should also write more.
  • I wonder if I can actually bake this Thursday? I'd like to bake.
Alright, that'll probably do it for me for today!

Talk About Tuesday 227

Talk About Tuesday is a go!
Good afternoon, folks. I wish I could say I was sleeping this whole time, but I was not. Believe it or not, this morning was mostly spent in negotiations. I negotiated with the shower over whether or not I could use the warm water (it was reluctant, but eventually my persistence paid off). I negotiated with the cat over whether she'd let me have my coffee or not (again, persistence was key, though bribing her with cuddles and a serious brushing helped). I negotiated with one of my crochet projects to see if I could detangle it from the horde of yarn (this one failed, sadly, so I'll have to return to negotiations in the next week or so).

I've had a busy, busy week, and with the heat wave now beginning in my home town (it's already 78℉, which is a little under 26℃) coinciding with Festival Season, it's going to be a rough week coming up, too. Today was not supposed to leave the mid 70s. Tomorrow... well, they're saying it'll feel like 82℉ (28℃), but they're also saying it will be cooler than it is now for realsies. I have 0 faith in this prediction.

Basically, this week is going to be hot, sticky, miserable, and I'm absolutely getting a sunburn because I always do no matter how much SPF I slather on...

But enough about the weather and the state of my coffee cup.

Here's the upcoming schedule:

  • Tomorrow I'm gonna talk about that FYTER FEST thing AEW came out with!
  • Thursday I'll draw some more - I have ideas.
  • Friday will involve a movie I've seen recently, possibly involving a wrestler.
  • Saturday will involve DINOSAURS! I flippin love dinosaurs!
  • Sunday will be tasty, as I feel it usually is
  • Next Monday will have more skulls, but hopefully at least two repetitions. We'll see.
  • Next Tuesday, you'll have me back here blathering away.
I'll be honest, the heat makes me really want to make some sorbet or shaved ice or something. I really do want to try to make shaved ice... maybe matcha or citrus flavored... mmmmmmmm....

I didn't get to go to my favorite ice cream place last year, so I'm hoping I can go this year and maybe even do a review!

I kind of hope that things aren't as toasty and awful as they tend to be in early July here, but we'll see :P

That'll be all from me today, guys!
