Thursday Art Walk

In Which The Horse is 20 Hands High
And I am 5'3"

They tell you when you fall off of the horse to get back on. I am usually very good at this.  This month, however, as mentioned on Tuesday, I'm just kind of... not feeling it.

That being said, I did manage to finish one digital piece based off of one of the first week of Cozytober's drawings that never made it onto the blog. You'll get all 31 pieces by Halloween, I promise. I want to see these images come to life!!!

Anyway, here's Prompt #5 - Cabin

"5 - Cabin"; Digital; 2023

I went for something of a storybook/illustrative look for this one, and I'm actually... quite pleased with the result! The original sketch was awful, I'll admit. Barely more than some scribbled lines that vaguely looked like a lop-sided a-frame cabin with a beagle puppy that looked more like a tamandua posed woodenly in the doorway. This at least looks like it's supposed to be a bit more sketchy!

I have... so much more art to do this week. I'm catching up, but it's only 5 days to Halloween, and I want to be finished completely. There's some great prompts to play with.

As for tonight, I'm going to work on at least one more sketch before turning in. The last few days of cat-pilling have taken their toll and I am pooped.

That's it for tonight's blog, sorry!

In Which There Are Updates & Art!

First and foremost, my dad was diagnosed with COVID last week, which sucked big time. No one enjoyed that. 0/10 do not recommend. I'm pleased to be able to say he's already recovered and testing negative! Fortunately, my mom & I were masking and washing and disinfecting and avoiding each other as much as possible, so we've both tested negative, too.

Unfortunately, this is Summer in the Northeast, which means weird air quality, high humidity, and air pressure weirdness, and even more unfortunately, my mom and I have trash sinuses.

So of course, we exhibit sinus infection symptoms all summer.

Which are, of course, also largely Covid Symptoms.

Imagine my deep relief when I tested negative. It's been rough.

Since it's High Summer, high moisture, and high temperatures, I've been struggling to get enough sleep, struggling to get enough to drink, struggling to maintain my salts & minerals, etc.

I didn't like my gums' color today so I snagged a G Zero out of the fridge.

I forgot how much I hate G Zero.

I used to love orange Gatorade. Used to chug it.

Now, the sucralose makes me shudder and there's something in the mix that stings my throat (and it is just the Gatorade, my throat does not sting with water, cranberry juice, or coffee). Maybe there's some kind of melon extract. I should probably not risk it again.

So that was a low point this afternoon.

In other news, I managed to do some art!

"Dedbert"; watercolor pencil and micron pen; 2023
[DEDBERT]

I've been toying with a few other pieces today, but they're not coming together like I hoped, so I'll just table them til next week.

For now, though, I've been up since 5AM and could really use a power nap or something.

Also probably another gallon of water to get the sucralose flavor out of my mouth, eugh.

If you'd like to have a say in what I draw or paint next week, drop me a donation over on Ko-Fi with a message telling me what category (Animal, Vegetable, Mineral, Food, Dedbert, Location, Geometric, Word) and I'll doodle something up to post on the blog!

In Which Today Was Supposed To Be Productive

I was supposed to start writing early today. I was supposed to read. I was supposed to draw. I was supposed to crochet.

I did, predictably, none of this.

Instead, I slept til nearly 11AM, overcaffeinated, took the cat for a walk, and shed eyelashes directly into my eyeball like a dingus.

That being said, I have a couple of hours left to do some writing in at least lol.

I wrote 149 words tonight and have written over 1100 words since last Tuesday! I'm back on track :)

I do still need to draw - I have standing orders to do a Mineral and a Location this week (one is mine, the other was requested via Ko-Fi) so that's what I'll be finishing up tomorrow and Thursday. I'm actually pretty excited for these pieces. I have ideas.

As for the rest of the week, I'll be, as I said, doing art for Thursday. For Monday, I'll have more crochet done (possibly with pictures this time), and next Tuesday I'll be back to give y'all a rundown of my week.

Hopefully I'll also be more awake. I think the warm-but-not-warm weather today (high of 52℉/11,1℃, but windy and cloudy so it felt much cooler) really messed with me. I mean, I have my fan running and I'm still planning to change into summer pajamas.

What an odd April.

I'd like to be able to actually be conversant next week lol.

As for tonight, I'm going to go brush my teeth and go to bed. This blog should've been finished two hours ago!

That'll about do it for me.

In Which I Got A Request!

This week I received a Ko-Fi request from the ever delightful Z who asked for something in the way of "MINERAL" for this week! He did add (in private) that I should try to keep this one G-Rated, since I did have that one mineral piece that was... shall we say... "upstanding"?

So this week, instead of choosing a rod-shaped mineral like an Emerald or other beryl, I chose the humble, bubbly Malachite! And to celebrate my 2-in-1 getting its new battery so it charges correctly and doesn't refuse to turn on, I did it digitally!

"Malachite"; digital art; 2023 [MINERAL]

I'm quite pleased with how the shading and highlights on the stone itself turned out. If I was to change one or two things, it'd be to add an underlayer with shading as well, so it looks less like a flat image. That might also be caused by the fact that there's an outline, which also flattens images.

You may have noticed this bears a lot of similarity to my favorite abstract art/geometric design element "bubble art", and I'll admit, I just really, really love the weirdness of concentric circles and ripples. It's probably from my lifelong fascination with water or possibly volcanoes. Why volcanoes? Because they change topography by pushing up on the earth. A volcano is similar to the splash of a drop of water in a puddle. Seismic activity tends to treat the earth more like a liquid.

This has been your brief window into how my mind operates: volcanoes = ripples = water = bubbles = art.

If you would like a say in what I draw (and a surefire way to force me to have something for the art blogs lol) then please shoot me a coffee over on Ko-Fi with a message telling me what category you'd like to see (Animal, Vegetable, Mineral, Dedbert, Location, Geometric, Word) and I'll do my best to get it up here!

I'm going to try to challenge myself this week, too, so I'm going to roll an 8-sided die. 1) Animal, 2) Vegetable, 3) Mineral, 4) Dedbert, 5) Location, 6) Geometric, 7) Word, 8) roll 2x.

I rolled a 3 so I'll try to have another mineral of some sort here next week!

Anywho, the rest of tonight will be spent drawing and typing so I can get more written down for my manuscript (I wrote 135 words last night!). Hopefully I can hit the next story beat tonight, because it's a good one. Got plans for this Main Character that don't involve just futzing around in a rotted out village.

It's not a post-apocalyptic story, either. Or fantasy. Or Sci-Fi. It's... Fiction. Just Fiction.

And I'm having a blast!

I hope you guys are having as much fun in your creative projects!

Y'All Ready For Some Shawl?

Because yeah, I worked on the shawl for a whole... hour and 26 minutes this week, bringing my efforts up to a total of 6 hours 53 minutes or so.

And it's not even halfway done.

So if I was to charge an hourly rate at my state's minimum wage ($13.80/hr), I'd have to charge over $95 for this thing just based on labor!

And this, kids, is why there's no such thing as a "fair price" for handicrafts and artwork.

But enough about that, you'll want to see the shawl!

Yup, that's my knee in the shot at the bottom left
and my laptop in the top right.

I've got quite a bit of work left to do on this shawl, and while it's one of the easiest shawls you can make, it's also incredibly slow going with a 2.75mm hook and lace weight cotton.

It's really pretty though.

I kind of wish I had another cake of the green lace from this brand so I could make another shawl in a more springy color... maybe add some cute little pink & white sakura blossoms onto it as décor...

But nay, I shall finish this sucker!

And then I shall make another project!

Who knows what that shall be. We'll find out.

Anywho, I'm gonna go brush my teeth and put a hot pack on my neck for reasons I'll explain tomorrow (they're very silly reasons). I hope all your projects are going well!

That'll do it for me tonight.

In Which Art Was Made

Oh boy has today been a weird one. My cat had to go to the vet for a checkup, so of course she chose this week to be off her feed and a little barfy. Her appointment lasted less than 20 minutes, wherein the vet said "she's fine" and now she's eating again.  The dork.

But yeah, cat's fine.

So now I can focus on important stuff - like art!

I did draw every day this week, but boy were some of those sketches embarrassingly derpy (we're talking barely more than a pile of graphite spaghetti), so here's the best I did:

"Nyan"; mechanical pencil in sketchbook; 2023 [ANIMAL]

"RIP Mouse"; mechanical pencil in sketchbook; 2023 [ANIMAL]

"Scribbletree"; mechanical pencil in sketchbook; 2023 [VEGETABLE]

"Crowmouse" digital; 2023 [ANIMAL]

I'll admit, I drew the same subject matter twice because it was the weirdest thing I've seen all month. The crows we have around here have such an overabundance of non-prey food that I forget that they can and do hunt. I guess the mouse was too easy to resist for the crow who snagged him. Regardless, it was a fascinating series of events that nearly put me off my brie.

As for next week, we'll see if I can get seven decent sketches! I'm not gonna hold my breath, it'll take a lot of drawing practice for me to improve greatly.

I'm going to try anyway.

How are your guys' art projects going? Anyone have any art plans for February?

And if you want to have a say in what I draw, feel free to buy me a coffee over on Ko-Fi with a note saying which category you want to see (Animal, Vegetable, Mineral, Dedbert, Location, Geometric, Word).

As for me, I'm going to go obsessively watch my fellow Zelda nerds break down the Nintendo Direct trailer we just got for Tears of the Kingdom and then play a bunch of fun videos for my boyfriend.

Talk About Tuesday

In Which Today Was Weird.

Last night I stayed up til almost 5AM because I was rereading my manuscript and planning next week's moves. Then I slept til almost 11AM and that was a mistake.

Why? Because it meant that I haven't been properly awake-awake all day. I've been floating on a cozy cloud of coziness.

I did a little crochet today, a little writing, and thought about drawing (which I still might do tonight).

This week's wordcount was 918! I wrote over 200 words yesterday alone!

And that brings the manuscript's total to over 4100 words over 9 pages! And I got to write a paragraph with the phrase "barf soup" in it.

This has been an all around good week.

It's just today that's felt off-kilter and weird. I don't know what's up with it, to be honest.

Maybe I'll draw something that looks confused tonight.

As for the next week, my plans are:

  • Random art for Thursday
  • More crochet for Monday
  • Blather for Tuesday.

I ah.... I may have forgotten I was writing this blog. For several hours lol.

Sorry!

Anyway, I've been a bit off kilter all day.

Hopefully tomorrow I'll have the oomph to paint or something!

Talk About Tuesday

In Which Today Has Been Off Kilter.

All told, today hasn't been my favorite day. I woke up too late, I've been at opposing schedules with my guy, and I haven't gotten nearly 1/3 of the things done today that I wanted to because my distraction level is far higher than my motivation.

But what have I done this week?

Well, since last Thursday... not a whole lot, to be honest.

I mean, I've tried to make good on my art and writing promises, but sadly, I've fallen short in both areas.  I have written almost 650 words since last Tuesday, but I haven't drawn since Thursday. Well, sort of. I scribbled out a fox last night, but I just haven't had the oomph to draw. Bummer.

I will be drawing eventually tonight, though. I hope. At the very least, I should write. As for the rest of the week...

Thursday will have a collection of the art I've made from last Thursday to this one.
Next Monday should have more shawl stuff
Next Tuesday I'll be chatty again.

I have to admit, though, that I'm not having a fantastic January - all I want to do is sleep, but when I try, I just can't fall asleep. And yes, I've tried the military method.

Hopefully by the end of the month I have a handle on both my writing and my art, because I really want to improve both this year!

I also want to improve my sleep schedule.

If you have any requests for my art, feel free to buy me a coffee over on Ko-Fi and leave me a message with what category you want (Animal, Vegetable, Mineral, Location, Dedbert, Geometric, Word), and I'll do my best to draw, paint, or otherwise make it!

For now, though, I'll get to work on my manuscript and my sketchbook and we'll see what I come out with.

In Which Time Management Is Hard

So.

I've been up since 9AM.

You'd think, with about 10 hours spent awake and active, I'd have written this up already, right?

I... totally forgot it was Tuesday.

Several times.

My bad.

I will say this, though, I had a fairly busy day! Went for a walk and bought some treats for myself, then worked on more crochet projects, stripped my stack of blankets and sent them to the laundromat, worked on digital art!

I also contended with some shockingly seasonal temps! It was all of 36℉/2,22℃, there was ice on the ground, and I had to break out my big red blanket last night. That thing can easily keep me warm even when it's 10℉/-12,2℃ and the heat is faltering. Honestly, I'm stoked. It means I can break out my Star Wars or Buffalo Plaid Fuzzy Pants or my fox pajamas, wear thick socks, dig out my sweaters...

And shop for another winter coat because my plaid wool peacoat is maybe a bit threadbare these days.

We found a fairly affordable parka at the Mart of Walls, and honestly, it's the warmest thing I've ever owned. I put it on for a moment today and had to take it off because I immediately overheated.

Gonna have to wait for a 20 degree, cloudy, windy day to wear that sucker.

I do have one thing to say about this past week, though...

I may be developing arthritis. I say this because the other day, my left leg was in agony. It wasn't the same stabby pain I get when my sciatic nerve acts up, either, it was deep and stiff and it built with every pulse of my heart. I would have worried more that it was a DVT or something like that if it had been in my artery/vein areas. Instead, it was right at the ligaments, cartilage and bone. It felt like I'd wrenched my entire leg.

It was so terrible I had to take ibuprofen and lay perfectly still for 8 hours. The next day, Friday, had my leg fine, but since then, my hands and wrists have ached a bit.

It's mostly been my right thumb, right where it meets the palm. I'm right-handed.

Joy, joy.

I'll be okay. I just wanted to whine lol.

Anywho, my plans for this week are to finish this digital art, post it on Thursday, and show what else I'm making for Christmas next Monday.

I'll be back to complain about the weather next Tuesday :)

If you'd like me to do something else in addition to the digital art (or in place of, depending on how much time I've got), feel free to buy me a Ko-Fi with a message telling me what category you'd like to see - Animal, Vegetable, Mineral, Dedbert, Location, Geometric, Word.

I'm going to go run my dinner dishes downstairs and gently stretch my hands and legs and spine before changing into my coziest jammies and cuddling into my flannel sheets.

Today I Made Something GEOMETRIC

This week's abstract geometric creation was brought to you by too much coffee and hyperfixation!

I plonked myself down in front of my computer at around 11AM with every intention of just... doing some lineart over a pre-scanned sketch or something. I wasn't feeling too creative.

And then I started making lines, and...

"CHAOS"; digital art; 2022

Now, at first blush, this doesn't look too odd. It's some colors, fractured around each other like broken glass. If you zoom in, however.... it's a madhouse in there!

Yes, it has taken me until now to experiment with the different fill settings on Paint.net, why do you ask?

The only other thing that really happened today was that a squirrel took a breather on my kitchen steps today. She scurried up the railing and leaned against the top post, keeping an eye on things. I think me standing in the kitchen in my fuzzy Darth Vader pants and Power Rangers tee, sipping coffee, made her nervous, because she never once looked away from me. Unfortunately, I have a screen door and my phone only wanted to take pics of the screen, so no squirrel for you :(

I really enjoyed falling down the creative rabbit hole playing with this one, and I think I could do some more with a similar concept (not identical, though). I'll keep playing tonight, I think.

In Which I Did A Lot of Art

This week, rather than wait til 10pm on Wednesday night to find out what I'd be posting on Thursday, I decided to start working on some digital art pieces starting on Friday last week!

And I finished... several. With more in-progress.

These artworks would probably best be described as "Geometric" in terms of my list of possible labels, so here are a series of abstract geometric digital artworks!

"Linegraphic #1"; digital; 2022

"Linegraphic #2", digital, 2022

"Scoop #1", digital, 2022

As you can see, I'm experimenting with different colors, line-weights, and curves, and I'm having a lot of fun while doing it! Each piece is 500px square, and I really enjoyed playing around with them. I might try the shape function next week.

As for today, I'm just enjoying myself and taking it easy. I've listened to a lot of jazz, I've worked on more art, I've crocheted, I've advanced the plot of one of my stories (and some day, hopefully you'll get to read those...), and I've drank... nowhere near as much coffee as I'd like. I should really get another mug!

If you'd like to have a say in what I make for next week (in addition to the things I'm already doing) please feel free to send me a Ko-Fi donation with your request (Animal, Vegetable, Mineral, Geometric, Location, Word, or Dedbert), and I'll get on it!

Also, these designs are available on my Redbubble shop!

I hope you're all doing well, and I hope you can all...

Talk About Tuesday

In Which I Forgot it was Tuesday

This will be a short little blog, guys. Just here to touch base, basically! It's 10PM and today was 80℉/26,7℃ with 80% humidity so I did not do a whole lot! I ran the old Wahl over the buzzed area of my head (10/10 do recommend shaving your head for summer, even just halfway), showered, took the bottles back, bought chips that were too expensive (everything is), and mostly just played with colors and video games the whole day while watching random videos and listening to music.

All in all, a pretty enjoyable Tuesday.

My plans for the rest of the week are as follows:
  • Art on Thursday - I haven't received any Paid Requests yet (see my Commission page in the sidebar), so if you want a say, go for it!
  • Still nothing video game-wise, but I'll keep looking
  • Still working on a lot of different projects, but the plan for Monday is to have more to show you towards a finished Mystery Project/Secret Project!
  • Next Tuesday I'll be back to hopefully talk to you earlier in the day.
The heat has been killer on my sleep schedule, so when something like tonight's weird balmy-but-soggy weather happens, I take what I can get. I'm hoping to get at least five hours tonight!

How are all of you guys sleeping? Are you getting enough rest? Hydrating enough? I hope so.

In the meantime, though...

Talk About Tuesday

A Gorgeous Day, but a lazy one.

I... didn't do a whole lot today, to be honest. I had all these grand designs of maybe going on a walk or luxuriating in the sun, but uh...

I took a shower, ate some leftovers, and lazed around all day.

I'd feel more ashamed if I hadn't also spent the entire day feeling borderline exhausted. What did I even do? The most activity I did yesterday was trying to convince the cat to not eat birds!

If I had to guess, I just didn't sleep well enough. I have a ridiculously delicate constitution when it comes to sleep, so any disruption, no matter how minor, means I feel like I've barely slept. I didn't even have caffeine late last night - I had decaf!

The weather lately has been perfect - warm and sunny days with cooling breezes followed by cool evenings, but tonight feels... toasty. Seriously, I've already subconsciously kicked my socks off twice, and I am an avid socks-in-bed person!

The next couple days could feel like 68℉/20℃ with some pretty strong winds, but they'll be so sunny and lovely and I just hope that I can make myself get dressed and go for a nice walk or drag my bike out and embarrassingly practice riding again.

Anyone who tells you you can't forget how to ride a bike has never taken a two decade break.

Disjointed maundering aside, here's my plans for the next few days!

Tomorrow: Predrawing! I want to sketch some stuff for Thurdsay - maybe even get started!
Thursday: Art!
Friday: I get older, so if I think of it I'll try and post a happy birthday to me message before bed lol
Monday: Next Part of the Secret Project - will it be straps or hardware troubleshooting? Will it be stiffening the bottom of the lid? Will it be washing that filthy little thing?! We'll find out!
Next Tuesday: Back here for the blather!

That might be all I've got the energy for tonight, guys. It's just a super lazy day today.

Talk About Tuesday

I had a very lazy day. No regrets.

Today was gorgeous again. Warm & breezy, clouds and sun off & on, and yes, I sat outside for a bit again, working on the Secret Crochet Project.

And that is the full extent of my activities.

I needed the sun, I needed the air, and I needed to get away from Twitter and the Roe v Wade news. Not gonna get into any of it, just super bummed.

The weather helped, and so did watching a bunch of YouTube videos and yelling at reruns of Ghost Adventures (that's clearly a cat in heat, not some ghost getting jiggy with it, man. Also dogs just stare at stuff sometimes).

But aside from that I've done very little today, and I feel pretty good about it. Sometimes that's all you need is a little downtime.

I have some ideas of what the next few days will be like on the blog, so here's the schedule:

Thursday I'll have a sketch and a painting (I hope - the sketch at least is finished, but the painting isn't even started yet, so we'll see how that goes lol).

Monday will be the End Of The Red Section (and possibly me busting into red spool #3 :| )

Next Tuesday I will be back to blather.

With tomorrow's weather leaning towards the messy and cool, I'm glad I got my outside time today. Now the peepers are peeping and the warm night air is thick with the promise of tomorrow's rain.

Wherever you are, I hope you have comfort and peace. I hope you can wiggle your shoulders into soft pillows and wiggle your toes in warm socks while listening to the night creatures carry on in their own way (and I'm not referring to the crackhead on 5th Ave who keeps asking you for a cigarette even though you have never smoked and he knows it, I'm talking about the bugs and amphibians and such).

I hope you Enjoy Something,

I Was Gonna Paint, but Nah.

I have been sleeping poorly again. Blame the weather! It's been freezing the last few nights and then suddenly last night was warm enough that I had to switch from fuzzy pants and my big red blanket to yoga pants and my light sheet and cotton blanket. And I still roasted at times. With the fan on.

Clearly I'm not ready for spring.

My plans to sketch or paint today ended up being for naught. Instead, I ended up doodling a quick lil cube-y piece in digital art for y'all!

"Cubism 01 Black" digital art 2022

"Cubism 01 White" digital art 2022

Hmm... what do you guys think? I'm interested in the ways the colors blend, but some of the green/purple stuff looks weird to me. I will be trying a lot of ways to play with colors before I figure out what's going to work, so please bear with me!

I wonder if I can do the angle/line trick on Paint.net...

We shall see!!!

Anyway, that's what I've got today! If you've got any palette suggestions or image suggestions, feel free to send them along!

I hope y'all are having some creative days this week, and if not, I hope you're at least relaxing!

In Which I Am Lump

Today was another sunny, windy, chilly day that reminded me that I live in a state that has half-seasons. Currently, we are not in either spring or winter. We're in Wing, which is kind of like spring, but it's freaking cold.

I confess, the only things I've done today are crochet, eat, drink coffee, and grump. I woke up later than usual and felt far less rested than I should have. Apparently my brain thought I needed a dream about getting abandoned on a road trip with strangers... how annoying.

So I woke up cranky, went downstairs and chugged a mug of mocha. After that, I talked to my guy for a bit, put on my sweatshirt and fuzzy pants, and went back to bed. I repeated that two or three times, minus the adding layers of clothing lol.

I did some more work on the Mystery Project (not a ton, just a round and a half with the new thread, which feels lighter than the old stuff...), ate some tuna on a burger bun, tried to nap, failed, read over my notes for the stories I'm working on, thought about art, then ate dinner (meatloaf & fried cheesy potato pancakes). All in all, not a bad lazy day.

Right now I'm listening to Mikey Chen exult a brunch buffet while I type. It sounds and looks incredible. I'd recommend his video on Zuma.

Anywho, the plan for this week is to sketch or paint something for Thursday, and then get more work done on the Mystery Project for Monday. I have no fancy plans because my brain barely functions lol.

I hope that my art this week is good, and I'm hoping that the area warms up a bit again. The day it was near 60 was very very nice, and I miss that.

That should about do it for me today. Not many tales of cats or nature, just a quiet day in for myself.

In Which My Hard Work Cannot Pay Off Yet...

I have high hopes for my current art project, but unfortunately it's not ready yet, so instead, I'm gonna have to show off an unfinished sketch of a bunny girl witch.

"Bunny"; graphite in sketchbook; 2021

This is an idea I'd like to go back to sometime when I'm a better artist, but for now I think I'll let her hang out.

The other project I'm working on is complex in theory but shouldn't be anywhere near as complicated in practice lol. I am thinking of calling it "AVM", so we'll see about that lol!

That's about all I can talk about right now, artistically, but I think it'll be really fun to show off when it's done.

See you again on Monday where I'll talk about the Mystery Project and the progress I'm making on my shawl :)

In Which Ow

A word from the recently-made-wise: do not knead dough and walk 3.5 miles (5.6km) while dehydrated if you then want to crochet at all.

My hands and forearms ache from the kneading (yes, pathetic, I know, I've never kneaded dough for longer than 3 minutes before). The soft pad of my palm where the thumb connects is especially sore, and any sort of movement at the elbow causes an ache to form along the underside of my arm. This is anti-conducive to crochet, unfortunately.

As for the walking, I managed to make my legs sore from ankle to knee and every time I get out of bed it feels like I've been kicked in both ankles. My toes ache, too.

I need to get back into shape. Thankfully, the discovery that the fabric store, art supply shop, and new bookstore are open now does motivate me to go outside more often and I just invested in a bike lock so guess who might be tooling around the town with a crochet project or a sketchbook in the next... 2 weeks? It said the 10th.

Cue me, waiting as impatiently as ever the second the damn thing ships lol.

So yes, due to ow, I have not crafted at all.

I am thinking up some projects and may actually get around finishing some old ones (we'll see lol).

Tomorrow I hope to talk more about life-stuff, but for today, accept my apology for not crocheting anything lol!

That's all from me,

Fiber Monday

In Which I Continue With The Stocking

I'm... tired.

Okay, so I'm always tired. I'm over 30. We tend to be more tired after 29. It's just life.

But I'm pretty tired today - it never felt like the day started. It's 7:30PM now and I just feel like my day is now beginning which is not good since that always leads to overextending myself and staying up too late lol.

But yeah, I'm tired. Which explains why I only got about 4 rounds finished on the stocking :(

Did I take the picture before realizing that I shouldn't give away a pattern that isn't mine?
Yes. Yes I did.
Go To the pattern website, plz lol

Since it is hard to see the site on the picture, here's a link.

Now, I'm using a different width than the lovely pattern developer, so there's.... a lot of blue space. And I'll be cross-stitching over the antlers. And I added some snowflakes/geometric designs. I can't wait to show you the... mostly finished product! I won't be posting pictures of the name cross-stitched on (privacy is pretty important, yeah?) but I'll show you everything except that :) I may even show you how I do one or two stitches (but not the finished name).

Today, besides being sleepy, was also cold. It was sunny, the yard was completely blanketed in a marshmallowy pile of snow, and it was all of 19℉ (-7.2℃). It was also windy. It's certainly February.

Alright - it's almost 8pm and I feel a need for tea before I settle in with some silly videos for the night :)

Fiber Monday Late Edition

In Which I'm Late... As Usual lol

If you know me by now, you're aware that I am chronically late. Believe it or not, I've always been this way. I just get caught up in whatever I'm doing (storm prep today, since I'm in the Northeastern US and we're being CLOBBERED tonight/tomorrow) and forget to do the Big Thing I'm supposed to do.

I did actually work on crochet this week! I even got some of the deer head done on the stocking!

Those are Red Heart Super Saver skeins for scale!

So I'm not being lazy, guys, I promise! I made two scarves in two days for the local library (a really nice Trinity Stitch scarf from Red Heart Unforgettable in Polo and a long half-double crochet scarf in a really annoying Aran weight blue squiggly yarn that I absolutely hated working with, both on J hooks), walked them down there, and donated them to a project they're working on along with a scarf I had already finished a while ago, before I blogged about crochet. I also made a camel stitch washcloth for my partner out of an old green cotton yarn I've had laying around - sometimes ya just need something to scrub with!

I only have about... 15 rows left of the deer, then I'll do a round of ribbing. The name will be cross-stitched on in either red or green (depending on what goes best with the sky blue, I might stick with white though...).

I've got a few other projects I'm working on, too, but those won't appear for a while lol. For now, though, I'm going to bed and hoping that I don't have another dream about being put in the Army against my will lol.
