Thursday Art Walk

This Week Has Been Weird

So I normally complain about how tired I am and how I can't sleep and wah wah wah, but man, this week has been * ~ * w E i R d * ~ *

I slept almost all day yesterday. Seriously. Got up at noon. Went to bed at like midnight the night before. Did the same last night and slept til nearly 10AM. It's snowing, so it's all quiet out there like I like.

Don't know what it is about taking care of a couple of very old, shockingly chill (though occasionally naughty/ridiculous) Jack Russels, but I've been helping out on Mondays & Tuesdays, and it has meant totally-zonked Wednesdays and barely-functional Thursdays every time.

Frankly, I'm okay with it. I have rarely slept so well.

Kind of annoying to miss out on a whole day of progress, but that's just life.

Speaking of progress, uh... not much has been made on that shawl. I've worked on it for a total of... less than 20 minutes.

I cannot be sorry about that when I've actually finished three separate pieces of art for you guys today!

"Side Eye"; graphite on sketchbook; 2023 [DEDBERT, ANIMAL]

This first image is a fun little sketch of our boy Dedbert giving a Look to a confused little squirrel. This was composed and sketched during coffee while the snow fell softly, right before the snow stopped, in fact lol! I love drawing little scenarios where Dedbert, who is actually only about the size of my head, is much bigger than other animals. I have a Beanie Baby nearly his size, after all...

"Independence"; Digital; 2023 [WORD] [GEOMETRIC]

Did I use the ol Red White & Blue to signify Independence? Yes. Did I also use the letters of "independence" to plot out the shape here? Yes. It's been a hot minute since I did any bubble art. This one was made in Krita with a few different brushes. Sadly, my 2-in-1 tablet computer croaked, so I did this using my XP-Pen and my normal laptop, which... doesn't always work out great for me. See, when I use Krita on the 2-in-1, it lets me draw around things without buffering. On my laptop, it buffers and that's why the lines are more jagged. It's very frustrating.

You know what isn't frustrating? This last piece:

"Mountaineer"; digital; 2023 [LOCATION]

Oh boy am I satisfied with the way this sky turned out! This is another blender/brush combo experiment and I'm thrilled with how it came out. Especially the way the colors are blended on the mountains. That's the blending stump on Krita used against several other brushes in multiple colors. The sky is all pens with the first wet blender in Krita. The water was made the same way. The trees are several brushes and pencils in shades of green blended down with the cotton bud blender, and the ground is one of the watercolor brushes with a pallet knife blender run around it.

I will keep experimenting with ways to blend colors and build depth, I think, because it's really fun to experiment.

All of these images this week were requested via Ko-Fi, so if you'd like a say in what I paint or draw next week, feel free to drop me a coffee over on Ko-Fi along with a message telling me what category you'd like (Animal, Vegetable, Mineral, Location, Dedbert, Word, Geometric) and I'll make it happen, no matter what life tries throwing at me. Come dogs or blizzards or insomnia, I will make the art!

Speaking of making art, I have been working on that manuscript, still. Today's word count was a whopping 365! That means that since last Thursday I've gotten 1077 words done. Not as good as some weeks (I missed a few days like yesterday, wrote less than 100 on others) but that's still more than my goal of 700 words a week!

And how about you guys? How have your creative projects been going? Have you guys been getting anything done? Are you looking forward to working on something artistic? I hope so!

As for me, I'm going to go back to bed - yes, I'm still sleepy and cozy and dopey. I'm okay with that. I got three pretty okay pieces of art and over 1000 words done this week. I did good.

And so did you.

Thursday Art Walk

In Which Ow.

There was a free clinic yesterday in my hometown. Free boosters to anyone without insurance. Guess who has no insurance? Of course me. I was lucky enough to live nearby so I ended up strolling in as the first stabee and I've been nursing my sore arm ever since lol.

I'm incredibly grateful to not have had any of the major side effects others in my family had. One of my siblings experienced pancreatitis! My mom and dad got chills & exhaustion! Most of my family & friends had exhaustion, actually.

I just get a sore arm. Maybe some chills last night, though it was about -2℉ (-18,9℃) so... maybe that was just my room being freezing cold. Could I sleep with the door open? Yes. Will I sleep with the door open? You bet your ass I won't.

Regardless, I got up this morning feeling like I had tried to force a door open with my shoulder, so I wasn't in the greatest mood for painting. I mean, I did it anyway, let's be real. I managed to get a nifty little bubble art out of it, too!

"Ring Game"; watercolor on paper; MB 2022

This piece is not my favorite, but since I made it in bad light with a sore arm, I'm pretty okay with it. I practiced a few techniques, explored how the colors work together, and figured out how to use that water brush from the Peter Pauper Press field kit (I was supposed to pull the little black stopper thingy out of the barrel, which was... not easy since I lack fingernails!). I think next time I'll practice sunsets, limit my color choices, and get some water out so I can do better wet blending. It's hard to do with the water brushes, believe it or not!

As for the missing "Talk About Tuesday" blog from this week... honestly, I just wasn't feeling it. I got super duper lazy and just wanted to snooze lol. No story there. I mean, there is one story from Tuesday: A deer came into my yard in broad daylight and raided the birdfeeder for moments. It must've heard my mom and I trying to get the cat to turn her stupid butt around so she could see the deer (she never did lol), and it bounded off. I'm mostly shocked my neighbor's dogs didn't scare the poor thing off before it got any food.

I think that'll about do it for me tonight. I'm very tired, and it's very cozy in here!

Thursday Art Walk - A Palette For You

In Which I'm Working On Something That's TOO BIG

I keep doing this to myself: I start working on a piece of art in Paint.net and... it balloons out of control. I cannot stop myself. I must do this.

I'm working on a new bonkbubble piece (kind of like last week's piece, but 100% digital), and I'm using a Semi-Limited Palette! What does that mean?

It means that I filled one whole row of the palette with colors from that random palette generator site I talked about that one time (Coolors) and now I'm spreading out dots in each color across a vast canvas. Seriously, it was 120 inches by 120 inches at one point (304.8x304.8cm). It's too big. Everything's very spread out. And yet I've already had four intersections! Which means I've mixed an additional four colors!

The original palette is here with hex/rgb colors for other artists to try out!
  • Aero Blue
    • Hex: BFFFF1
    • RGB: 191, 255, 241
  • Saffron
    • Hex: EAC435
    • RGB: 234, 196, 53
  • Wild Blue Yonder
    • Hex: B2B1CF
    • RGB: 178, 177, 207
  • Raisin Black
    • Hex: 1E1E24
    • RGB: 30, 30, 36
  • Dark Liver
    • Hex: 403F4C
    • RGB: 64, 63, 76
  • Opera Mauve
    • Hex: B37BA4
    • RGB: 179, 123, 164
  • Tumbleweed
    • Hex: D8A47F
    • RGB: 216, 164, 127
  • Dark Olive Green
    • Hex: 46782C
    • RGB 71, 104, 44
  • Viridian Green
    • Hex: 0FA3B1
    • RGB: 15, 163, 177
  • Purple Navy
    • Hex: 414874
    • RGB: 65, 72, 116
  • Arylide Yellow
    • Hex: DBD053
    • RGB: 219, 2018, 83
  • Rose Madder
    • Hex: DB2B39
    • RGB: 219, 43, 57
  • Shocking Pink Crayola
    • Hex: F26DF9
    • RGB: 242, 109, 249
  • Imperial Red
    • Hex: FF0035
    • RGB: 255, 0, 53
  • Bone
    • Hex: D7CEB2
    • RGB: 215, 206, 178
  • Oxford Blue
    • Hex: 0B132B
    • RGB: 11, 19, 43
I also have four color combos which have no names so far:
  • A7A25E
  • E48888
  • DB984A
  • ED5A6C
I'm pretty pleased with how things are going so far, sheer size notwithstanding (I've got it scaled to 1k pixels per inch right now, but that will be changed by the end, I promise lol). I did have one annoying moment where I miscounted somewhere and ended up having to shift over 70 dots up by 25 pixels (time consuming but not difficult), and I keep adding too much around each dot as I go, but that's pushed me to figure out the shortcuts on Paint.net!

If I press S four times, I get the magic wand selector, then I hit M to move the pixels, which I can do with my arrow keys for pixel-perfect movement! Made an error with my brush? Just hit E for the Eraser, erase my mistake, then hit B to go back to my Brush!

My only annoyance is that I legit can't figure out how to change the brush shape or if that's even possible. I'll finish the BonkBubble painting first, then figure out more things.

I'm also using a placeholder layer for when I need to combine colors, which I do by going to the mixing layer, and make a Brush Size 20 dot of each color at an Alpha/Opacity of 127 each. Then I use the Eyedropper tool to pick up the overlapped color, reset the Alpha to 255 (maxed out!) and add that new color to my palette. That's how I got the four colors up there. You can experiment on your own with those colors to see which ones I combined for them or just wait for the finished work!

Sorry I didn't have any progress shots for you, but I can't figure out how to save a work-in-progress without having to flatten all the layers (which... uh... wouldn't really work for me. Eventually I'll be deleting the background layer and the blending layer, but I need them for now!) and I'm still pretty new at this. Hopefully it'll be done next week!

Alright, I'm gonna go back to listening to some Synthwave and radiating bubbles :)

If you use that palette to make some art, please put a link in the comments or show me on Twitter (@TheFilthyCasua8)! I look forward to it :)

Thursday Art Walk

In Which I Made Bubbles Again

My original plan for today was to make a nice picture of a mushroom. Nothing special, just one of those amanita-like spotted mushrooms everyone who makes mushroom-based designs seems to love. Then I realized that I haven't bought snacks since probably June and the craving for toaster pastries overwhelmed me.

So I started making a quick and dirty bubble art sheet with my highlighters and colored pencils.

"BonkBubbles" colored pencil and highlighter on printer paper; 2021

I like how this one turned out, but I think I'll like it more once I scan it (the scanner is not synced with my new laptop and I just don't have the patience for that today, sorry!) and maybe do a little manipulation in Paint.net. I'm not sure what I'll do yet, but maybe I'll also draw a little mushroom and then scan that in, cut it out, paste it over the bubbles... we'll see!

As for my walk, it was... fraught.

I'm an impatient person when I want to do something. Doubly so when there are other people involved. I hate shopping, and I extra hate that I have to literally walk uphill both ways from the nearest shop. That's not an exaggeration. I actually have to walk uphill in either direction. It sucks. I don't like it.

Well, unfortunately for me, I had to take an even steeper side of the hill this time because there was a crew pruning trees along my usual route. I had to go about a third of a mile (approx 0.49km) out of my way, which brought my round trip to about 1.5 miles (2.42km) instead of about a half mile (0.81km).

And it was snowing.

At least it was a reasonably temperate 28 degrees (-2℃) with no real wind to speak of, but it's very hard to see where you're going when you have to wear both a mask and very, very, very thick glasses.

So I came home in somewhat of a mood only to trip over the cat and then be let down by a lot of the stupid stuff they're releasing with Resident Evil: Village.

Major bummer.

This is where the idea of the BonkBubbles came from. Usually, I just go through my pencils or markers or whatever one by one, laying down a strip of each color in succession with the end goal being something incredibly rainbow-toned, but today I did things a bit differently. I cracked open my highlighters and laid down dots of each color (six yellow dots, four pink, four blue, five green, and six orange), and then outlined each in every colored pencil of the same color family. I would do one ring for each dot before starting from the beginning again with the next pencil. So yellow dots got yellow rings, green dots got green rings, etc.

Here's where the Bonk part comes in. Whenever I was running a ring of one color and it "bonked" into another (because the space is limited), I would then outline the shape I bonked in that color. Eventually I ran out of shapes that were outlined in green or blue and could only use yellow, pink, and orange. Eventually I bonked into yellow with orange. Eventually I bonked into orange with pink.

Pink, therefor, despite only having four origin points, took over completely, which shocked me, since I thought for sure it'd be either yellow or orange!

I liked that experiment, so I'll probably try something similar with my permanent markers at some point, or just a pure colored pencil sheet! I'd also like to try something similar digitally, but I'd try to do color mixing on that one, so if I was "bonking" a yellow bubble into a blue one, they'd mix colors and I'd end up with a green outline from then on. That could get really interesting!

I think that'll about do it for me today. I am le tired. But FC it was only 1.5 miles, you shouldn't be tired! I know. I'm not tired from the walk. I'm just tired (it's overcast and cloudy days make me tired lol). I'll maybe start that digital bonkbubble art later :)

Thursday Art Walk: Sleepy Bubbles

Let's Be Real - It's Been A Week

Everything has been pretty wild the last few... okay, years, but particularly the last week or so has been freaking crazy. In every way. And my insomnia started kicking back in this week, too, so today has been a very sleepy, gummy-eyed kind of day. I got up late, showered late, dressed late, got my coffee late, and started drawing late.

But I still drew!!!

"Bubbly 1" colored pencil and gel pen on sketch pad; 2021

I used my new gel pens and colored pencils for this one, and I'd love to remake it on a larger, smoother paper some day, because it feels a bit more crowded than I'd like and I only got three rows deep in the pencil cube. I'd also like to add in my markers and crayons some time, but honestly, four mediums seems like two too many on paper this size (it's 11x14in or 27.9x37.6cm). In person, the colors are much more dayglo (especially the yellows!) but I kind of like the pastel look it has on film. And the final outline is in a purple glitter gel pen, not black (yay color balance...).

As for why I haven't used the scanner... well... unfortunately the gel pen isn't drying very well, and I don't want to have to wipe down the scanner bed every time I make art. Also, it's not wide enough or long enough to accommodate my sketchbook :(

I think I'll try to get in a quick day of Stardew before settling in for the night ;)

Thursday Art Walk: Pixels & Bubbles

In Which I Made An Art!

I know my abstract stuff has been... somewhat scattered as of late. I have been experimenting on Paint.net with different ways to do things, and I finally bit the bullet, turned of anti-aliasing, dragged the hardness to 100%, and made the line quality "pixellated".

Hence today's title.

I didn't know right away if the paintbrushes would retain the sharp edges I was looking for, but eventually, I realized I was good to go! I will say this, though - I was maybe too conservative in my circle-drawing.

"Signis"; digital art; 2020

I really like this palette, which I got from Coolers, which is fun as heck to use. I took the 5 basic colors and then carefully blended them together, one by one, by moving the alpha back to about 227 and layering the two, then using the eyedropper to add that color onto my new palette. I ended up with 15 colors total, and I used every one!

I did make one error, though - I put a 2 pixel block in the wrong spot, but by the time I noticed, I had already made several new layers so I just... put another lil block in the right spot lol.

I am very thrilled with the saturation! I think I'll go for full Alpha on future projects instead of my usual attempts at layering... unless.... hmmmmm.... Stay tuned for future experiments!

Alright, I have a novel to write, so y'all stay chill and

Thursday Art Walk - Experiment with Random Palette

Digital Art Is Hard, Guys

I'm still learning how to use the nice Star G430S XP PEN my partner bought me, but today, I made this:

"Random Palette Experiment 01 with Confetti"
Digital; 2020

Lol, if you want the palette I used, it's this:

  • Cerise - F61067
  • Amber - FFBF00
  • Middle Blue Green - 7FD1B9
  • Dark Purple - 37123C
  • Black - 000000
It's pretty fun to experiment, but boy, does my PC not like trying to render a canvas more than 100cm x 100cm lol (I cut it down after the fact, but this actually got to 200cm x 200cm).

I'm pretty exhausted, though, so I'm going to post this insane nonsense and watch videos online with my partner :)

Thursday Art Walk 326

In Which I Do The Work

In my continued quest to learn more about digital art, I've begun a larger-scale painting! This was a friendly request I received - a scene from my yard:

"Chippy" base sketch and blocked-in colors; digital art; 2020

It's not, I'll admit, even quite approximating what I want it to look like, but I think I can get there! The canvas, by the way, is HUGE - possibly 20" x 20". Usually I'm working on, at max 800 pixels square.

Colorstudy 3; digital, 2020
Now the second piece I started on a 50"x50" canvas, but it turned out I needed way less than that. Think maybe 10 x 24...

Regardless, I like the peaceful green and purple tones to this semi-grayscale painting :)

My final thoughts on today: it was hot outside. Like, 80℉+ (26.7℃+), slightly more humid than I like, so it was banaaaaaaanas. I could barely concentrate, and I just now realized that all I've eaten today were a handful of animal crackers and a couple of umaibo snacks... thank goodness dinner is coming up soon lol.

That'll about do it for me, today!

Thursday Art Walk 324: Digital Color

In Which I Am Learning More!

Today is a momentous occasion! I attempted my first 100% digital bubble art!

Color Study 1; Digital; 2020

I will be experimenting further throughout the day with different colors, layering, backgrounds... I don't know where I'm headed, but I'm really enjoying the journey. Anyone with experience in digital art - what size canvas do you start with, usually? Because that right there is 9"x9" (1152x1152 pixels). I don't know if that's large or small for someone's work?

Anyway, any suggestions you guys might have would be greatly appreciated!

Thursday Art Walk 303: Thank You Liger

In Which I Finish!

Remember how last week I gave you a black-and-white photo of my in-progress picture?

Here's the finished product!

"Thank You Liger"; permanent marker on Sketch paper, 2020

I coordinated the bubbles using the lyrics for Jushin Thunder Liger's theme song. Actually, I'm trying to figure out how to do a digital version of this style so that I can start doing commissions based on people's favorite songs, poems, lyrics, etc!

The color pallet for this picture is white, two shades of red, silver, gold, and black (I actually can't tell which color Liger's cape is, so I used both metallic shades).

Any suggestions for my next bubble project? How about any suggestions for next week's Art in general? I'd love to hear your guys' thoughts!

Thursday Art Walk 245: Bubbly Bones

In Which I Utterly Lost Track of Time

First of all - my apologies for being so late with this. I was really getting into the art and... uh... I may have gotten a bit Sharpied. Sorry if I'm also incoherent lol.

But I have wonderful news! I have finished my Halloween Bubble Project!

"Spooky Scary Bubbly Bones"; Sharpie on Art Paper; 2019

As you may have guessed from the name, this piece is based off of the lyrics to the Spooky Scary Skeletons song!

A Closeup
This bubble art project was a lot of fun, but I could really use some new Sharpies - my gold and bronze markers are drying up and I'm running low on some of the purples.

I'm definitely thinking of doing some winter and/or Christmas-related pieces next, since this one is still a little bananas as far as color variation goes. I'm thinking of using only greens and reds for Christmas, and using only blues, silver, and white space for the general winter project.

I should also get another giant art pad (18 x 24) for huge projects like this!

I mean, I could buy posterboard, by that stuff can be a buck a sheet, and I'd rather have 50 sheets for 20 bucks lol. Also, posterboard is a bit too smooth. I need some tooth or else I feel like I'm making fake art. Not 100% sure what's up with that.

All that is to say that: YAY I'M DONE WITH THIS PIECE!

That'll do it from me today. I'm dizzy and tired from fumes, but I feel very accomplished. I'll probably plan out my next piece.

Thursday Art Walk 244: Inktober Finale!

In Which Inktober 2019 Has Come to A Close

Happy Halloween, everyone, have some spooky arts!

"Tasty" Inktober 2019
Bread is not spooky. It's delicious. But what if... this is PUMPKIN BREAD?!?!?! SPOOOOOOOOOKYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

Or not. Lol.
"DARK" Inktober 2019

Here we see a spooky Jack-O-Lantern! I actually kinda like this one! It looks friendly but still off-putting :)
"COAT" Inktober 2019

Yes, that's a coat with a trio of long bloody gashes down the back. But whose is it? Is it Spencer's? Was he wearing it during the Romania Incident? I don't know!

"RIDE" Inktober 2019

Here we see a strange little creature, something I'll call a Minor Vexation, riding an unwitting victim and causing him distress.

"INJURED" Inktober 2019

Poor Spencer. He's got cuts on his arm, a bandage on his neck, and a six hour flight to Poughkeepsie...

"CATCH" Inktober 2019
Is... is this Reggie or Spencer? I can't tell. I'm not 100% sure who this is, but they're getting menaced by the Negative big-time.

"RIPE" Inktober 2019

This one's a bit obscure. I'm working on some mythologies for the world of Spook Patrol, and one of the locations is an orchard where supposedly a lot of witches were hanged and/or burned. Called the Witch Grove or the Black Orchard, all of the plants that grow there bear black fruit - apples, plums, peaches, pears, pumpkins, corn, everything.

The white snake biting the apple might be a witch's familiar, or it could be a vegan viper. Not sure :P

Remember my bubble art? I had to restart it :| Not getting done before midnight, either :(
Unfortunately for me, the original got kinda... chocolatey. Oops. Shouldn't have left it laying around.

Still, this gave me an opportunity to restart it with a more cohesive pattern/style. I kinda like it more now, even if the phallic imagery is still a bit obvious... ah well. That's what you're going to get when you use Cardinal Directions as your basis...

That'll about do it for me today!

Thursday Art Walk 240: Bubbles and Sketchbooks!

Talkin' bout all the stuff I made!

So, it's been a long week so far, and I'm already tired, but I shall continue on!

I have finished the first three days of Inktober. I made a book. I did more bubble art. I finally managed to watch the first episode of Dynamite. It's been a good, if very busy, week :)

More bubbles!!!
The bubble project is coming along nicely, and while I'm sorry that I didn't get any better shots of it, I am really pleased that it's so far along. It's just under halfway done!

You know what I did finish this week? I made a sketchbook. I know, I've already bragged about it once this week, but now that I've used it, it bears repeating :P

My tiny, tiny hand for creepy scale...

I made the sketchbook for just one purpose: Holding my Inktober art for 2019.

Yes, I wrote the title in pencil.
Yes, I'll ink it later.

And here we see the contents, which indicate three finished drawings!
I mean, it's the third, so it stands to reason, but c'mon!

Day 1's prompt was RING, and while I wanted to make every prompt relate to Spook Patrol, I knew that wouldn't work. No one in Spook Patrol really wears rings...

So I designed a ring.

The faces of the skulls would be the same metal as the band, but the eyes would have
garnet or obsidian in them and the domes of the skulls would be made from pearls!

Day 2's theme was MINDLESS, and since I didn't have it in me yesterday to draw a zombie, I instead drew something equally mindless:

MÓ§th loves Candle...

But today's theme was BAIT, and so I present to you: Bait from the Spook Patrol.

I promise, this all makes sense in context.

There are only supposed to be four people in the photo. There are five. House '93 is an audio recording from a haunted house. The copy of Evangeline, the photo, and the necklace (which is a cowrie shell) all came from the house the recording came from. The only person who could have sent all of these is dead.

Spencer, who received this package and its vaguely sinister note, is thus drawn back to a house he swore he'd never return to. Of the six kids who went in, two are dead, one is missing, one is insane, and one is dying. The last one is Spencer, and even he is not unscathed.

So that's what I've done, art-wise, this week!

Thursday Art Walk 239: Spooooooops

A continuation of bubbles plus a self-descriptive confection!

Today is another gray and dismal day, but at least it's not a freaking deluge plus hailstorm like we had on Tuesday... that was wild. Today it's about 70℉ (~21℃) and humid. The clouds are low and threatening - it'll probably rain while I'm walking this afternoon, tbh. But I still did art!

I was originally only going to do one section of bubbles today, but I had to move onto the next section as well, since the previous cluster ended up terminating inside another cluster... What a cluster...

But yeah, I worked on that, listened to some jazz, and watched some spooky ghost hunting shows. They're easier if I'm not looking directly at the screen, for whatever reason...

So I did more bubbles!!!

Spoopy WIP continues!

You may have noticed that some of the bubble groupings are the same few colors repeated, and that's because I've changed up how I do the inputs. This could be really cool :) I already like how it's coming along!

The other day, however, I was having a conversation with some friends and admitted that I can get grumpy on long trips (it's usually due to not having enough water and/or bathroom breaks). Somehow, that devolved into some fun, gentle teasing and the phrase "grumpmuffin" came into being. Not being one to let a cute idea get away from me, I immediately grabbed my sketchbook and went to work.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you:
Pure, Unadulterated, 100% Grade-A USDA Certified Chocolate Chip Grumpmuffin!

I really like that design and might reuse it at some point to make a painting lol!

That'll about do it for me today,

Well, I've done some more work on the marker project today!

It's coming right along!

Besides the fact that I had a lot of "help" today, I think this morning went really well. I got up at a good time, I had my coffee, and I needed to wear a sweatshirt around the house because it's only 50℉ (10℃) outside, and I love it!

Kitty, how am I supposed to read my coordinates if you're on the laptop?

Also unhelpful, but cute. Love you too.
So today's been pretty nice! I'm going to throw on some jazz when I get back from doing some errands today and work on the hat, maybe write tomorrow's blog (about... hmm... I'm gonna have to choose among three very different films...), and play some vidya games!

Hope today's been kind to you, and if it hasn't I hope you have the energy to

Thursday Art Walk 237: Week 2 of WIP

Continuing work on last week's bubble art!

Last week, I started a bubble art project that was based on coordinates that I showed you! This week, I took on line 2, and I'll be working on the next few lines on my own time, but here's lines 1 and 2 of the coordinates together as bubbles!

I should probably mention that this is taken looking down at my rug.
The paper is about 1/3 the size of my living room rug, which is longer than I am. The paper, the way it's facing, is about as tall as one of my arms (wrist to armpit), which means it's about 1/3 longer than that. So... big. Very big. You almost can't see the single-dots (where I haven't put any ring around them)! This is a fun, if exhausting project. I'll definitely have to take breaks between the Lines, because otherwise I'll probably pass out from marker fumes. The piece kinda stinks from the Sharpies.

That being said, you may have noticed my limited pallet? I'm only using one teal tone, all of my orange tones, a maroon, a normal and a thin red, black, metallics, brown, navy, deep or dusty purple, and brown. Why?

It's gonna be spoopy, I think.

We'll see :P

I hope you come back to see my progress on this project!
